THE PRACTICE

Our Practice:

Whittlesea Family Medical Centre was Established in 2012. Providing primary health services to the local and outer community of Whittlesea Victoria and its surrounding suburbs.   We are a Mixed-Billing Medical Centre and your Doctor's consultation normally would attract a "Gap Fee". Please see reception or talk to your Doctor for more information.

Opening hours:

Monday to Wednesday 0830 am - 4:50 pm

Thursday to Friday       0830 am  - 4:20 pm

Saturday                        0900 am  - 2:00 pm*

(*Hours may vary depending on doctors availability) 

 

After hours and emergency:
If you require urgent medical attention Dial triple "0" for emergency assistance or visit your nearest hospital for emergency assistance
For after hours and non urgent medical attention please contact the home doctor service on 13 SICK (137425)

Specialists fees may apply , ring the clinic to confirm.

Some minor surgical procedures  will incur fees and may not be bulk billed, please discuss with your doctor or reception staff prior to any booking of procedure/s. Vic Roads reports, employment reports, income protection reports, TAC, WORKCOVER , and other reports are not bulk billed and will incur a minimum fee. Please enquire from reception prior to booking appointments related to these services.
 

No show or cancellation of appointment:

We request that you provide a minimum of 2 hours notice if you cannot attend your appointment.
This provides us with the opportunity to offer your appointment to another patient who may need to see a doctor more urgently.

A $40 cancellation fee will be charged where adequate notice to the practice is not provided. Medicare rebate is not applicable to this fee.

Communication / telephone policy:

Staff will take your details and will only interrupt a consultation if the problem is urgent. We will endeavour to return your call as a matter of Doctor's availability.

Appointments:
We highly encourage patients to book an appointment to see a doctor by ringing us on 03-9716 0153. A short consultation is considered to be less than 10 minutes and a long consultation is considered to be up to 20 minutes, please speak to reception is regards to the length of consult you require.  Walk in appointments vary depending on doctor availability and wait times. 

 

You need to book an appointment for the following : 

  • Test results 

  • Scripts or review of medication 

  • Certifying documents and filling out paperwork 

  • Referral including radiology and allied health 

  • Treatment 

  • Certificate of Capacity and Medical Certificate 

  • TAC & Work Cover 

 

Reminder system: 

From time to time we set out reminder calls, letters, SMS's to our patients, please let us know if you do not want your name included in our reminder process

Results: 
Whittlesea Family Medical Centre is not able to give results out over the phone, for results please book an appointment with a doctor. We endeavour to contact you when results are available for discussion however, please contact the clinic to check your results have been received by the GP
